The Roots- “Clones” (Classic Times)


On September 24, 1996, Philly group The Roots would go on to release their critically acclaimed third album Illadelph Halflife. The album contained the integration of programmed drums and guest contributions by R&B musicians such as Amel Larrieux and D’Angelo, as well as jazz musicians such as David MurraySteve ColemanCassandra Wilson, and Graham Haynes.


The project was selected as one of The Sources 100 Best Rap Albums In 2006 and was fully loaded with gems like “What They Do” featuring Raphael Saadiq, “Episodes” featuring Dice Raw alongside many more.


Today we pay homage to the legendary group with the official video to their single “Clones” featuring Dice Raw and M.A.R.S.
