Sad news has hit the hip hop community after reports of West Coast rapper Nipsey Hussle being shot and killed in Los Angles Sunday (4/1/19).

According to TMZ multiple sources told the site he was gunned down in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, south of the Crenshaw area at his clothing company called The Marathon Store. There is already someone claiming to have shot Nipsey according to and artist by the name of Cinco who says he was in Instagram Live Sunday after news broke that Nipsey had been shot and during his Live session, a man with the username @gasstongbo jumped on his own video and claimed to be the shooter.

The man claims he literally walked up on Nipsey and shot him in front of his “daughter.” Nipsey was photographed right before the shooting in the presence of a young child, but there is no word on if this was his daughter.


It’s unclear yet if the aforementioned man is a police suspect in the case or someone playing a cruel prank claiming the killing.

Nipsey Hussle was not only a phenomenal rapper but also giving back to his community buying up half of the businesses on the corner of Slauson and Crenshaw streets including a basic needs store, incoming barbershop and seafood restaurant and The Marathon Clothing Store, which not only sells the rapper’s label, but let’s visitor use an app to enhance their shopping experience. The rapper also helped renovate his neighborhood’s 59th Elementary school basketball courts.

In an attempt to bring businesses to the Crenshaw area the rapper started the Vector 90 co-working space for resources and spaces to work enabling residents to network, meet with people and collaborate with people.

It was the rappers goal to be an impact on his community and leave a legacy and some financial stability for his son and daughter.

We playing the long game. We don’t want the money to stop when we go. When we can’t work no more. We want it to outlive us, we want it to be generational,” Nipsey said.

Nipsey was a great artist and role model inspiring many even this blogger to reach their goals and succeed. On behalf of SHHM we send our condolences to Nipsey Hussle’s family may his legacy live on.
