J Cole has been relatively quiet but today surprises fans and returns speaking on some serious topics like police brutality, racism, and wealth inequality on his new song titled “Snow On The Bluff.”
For the Carolina rappers single, he tackles the current discourse around the Black Lives Matter movement, particularly starting with social media and their anger with artist not stepping up to the plate sooner and speaking up.
“mad at the celebrities, low key I be thinkin she talking bout me,” he raps. “Now I ain’t no dummy to think I’m above criticism so when I see something that’s valid I listen,”.
Cole later speaks on how things getting better is inevitable but due to this being a new generation unfamiliar with the movement we will have to learn as we go.
“This change is inevitable but ain’t none of us seen this before/Therefore we just gotta learn everything as we go,” he raps.
It’s still not clear if the song will appear on the highly anticipated J Cole project The Fall Off, which is the follow-up to 2018’s KOD. The Fall so far does not yet have an official release date, check out the song above.
