Rap mogul Jay-Z and his Rocnation recently closed a deal with the NFL becoming the leagues “live music entertainment strategist.” JAY is also getting involved in the league’s social justice initiative Inspire Change and may reportedly become an owner of an NFL team.
Following the announcement, in a Q&A the Billionaire was asked about players kneeling during the National Anthem and said flat-out … we’re past it, and ready to take the next steps. Jay would state he believes partnering with the NFL is a key way to do that. Although despite his comments some including Colin Kaepernick made way to social media slamming Jay and calling him a sell-out.
The former 49ers quarterback posted a photo Sunday that appears to be aimed at the rappers NFL deal by referencing comments Jay-Z made about having “moved past kneeling.”
“My Brothers @e_reid35 @kstills @ithinkisee12 continue to fight for the people, even in the face of death threats,” Kap wrote. “They have never moved past the people and continue to put their beliefs into action. Stay strong Brothers!!!”
Despite Colin Kaepernick’s recent comments, some in the industry are backing Jay’s recent actions including Cardi B who in a new interview with TMZ, the multi-platinum selling artist stated she believes the Rocnation CEO can make a change in the NFL and possibly even get Colin Kaepernick back in the league.
“I feel like JAY-Z could bring back Colin Kaepernick,” she told TMZ. “I feel so. I feel like he has that power.”
