Genius Details The Inspiration For J Cole’s Alter Ego Kill Edwards

After a quick look at J Cole‘s recently released Album “KOD” and its tracklist it appears to include a pair of features by an artist named kiLL edward.

However, pitching up the vocals on the kiLL edward track “Tidal Wave” quickly revealed the voice actually belonged to J. Cole himself.

The Dreamville artist brother Zach recently revealed in a review of the project that there stepfather’s name was Edward, this revelation fueled the theory of where the alter ego might stem from.

Lyrics from the North Carolina emcee also give clues to this theory.

Stepdaddy just had a daughter with another woman/Moma ain’t recover yet/Calling me at 12 o’clock at night/she drunk as fuck and I’m upset“(Once An Addict)

All I wanna do is kill the man that made my momma cry“/ (window pain)

Cole’s alter ego seems to represent the side of him which hasn’t dealt with pain from his upbringing.
