2 Live Crew Founder Fresh Kid Ice Dead At 53

Founding member of the Miami Hip Hop group 2 Live Crew has reportedly died at age 53, the reports were confirmed by his manager Dj Debo, with no further details released.

The Biracial Fresh Kid Ice who was born Chris Wong Won in 1964 was one of Raps first artist of Asian decent, Wong was Born in Trinidad after later moving to Brooklyn in 1977. He co-founded 2 Live Crew with fellow rappers DJ Mr. Mixx and Amazing V in 1984, joining forces with Campbell and moving to Miami shortly after.

Through the late 80’s and 90’s the group was known as controversial with it’s sexually charged lyrics, that even landed them in court for their 1989 albums”Nasty As They Wanna Be” In 1990, a federal court declared it history’s first legally obscene album, made it illegal for retailers in the southern Florida area to sell the album, a ruling that was overturned two years later.

Luther Campbell Aka Uncle Luke, one of the groups most known artist made way to Twitter to share his thoughts on Fresh Kid Ice,”My Condolence goes out to the family Chris Wong Wong Fresh Kid Ice of the 2 Live Crew who just passed away people we lost a legend,” he wrote.
